The area here is 50% ancient forest with towering trees and 50% heathery heathland. All of it strewn with wild ponies and donkeys who have free access through the village of Burley. It’s well worth a visit to this particularly eccentric village, famed for its ‘white witch’.
We love the ice-cream shop, the excellent butcher and deli. The local White Buck pub is well respected for food and drink.
The golf course is one of the oddest in Britain. It sits directly in the National Park and ponies graze the greens, sometimes pigs too. Eccentric? Certainly!
