Privacy. Quality. Style. Space. The magic four ingredients for luxury. It’s all here in spades. Come here for de-frazzling, detoxing and tidying up your body. Go home looking like you’ve spent a great deal more than you will have done!
Rooms are chic, boutique and very spoily. The pool and spa are glam and Vogue-ready. Every morning, a healthy breakfast is provided. Just pop the dirty stuff in the food lift!
The garden and lake area is peaceful and well planted. The long beaches at Milford on Sea are an easy ten minute woodland walk.
For those needing help to relax, the Spa has a hydropool with seven different seats, back, neck and leg massaging jets. It’s not designed as a hot tub or jacuzzi. This is a proper hydropool with 60 jets (most have 4-10 jets). Fresh water is used for each guest.
There is also a small gym, steam room, rain shower and changing room. Plus, of course, all the fluffy towels, robes, slippers and glossy magazines that you’ll need. Local therapists can visit the house for treatments. Your host is a big spa fan. She is a interiors photographer and writer by trade, so sniffing out the best of the best is her day job. Staying here is a treat.
Pricing Notes: The price is based on 2 sharing 1 room. Please ask us for prices for 3 and 4 people. As a guide: in off peak season, please add: +£30ppn for 3 people and +£70pppn for 4 people.
Min 2 nights. Max 4 nights in peak summer please.
Whilst we do not accept children under 14, we can request stays for an older child staying in the same bedroom as their parents. The Pool Room has the Dutch Cupboard Bed that is very suitable for older children. This may not affect your price. If you want to use the 2nd bedroom for children, we will charge the normal rate for 3 people.
All prices quoted are exclusive of the water charge to refill the Hydropool after each guest stay. Hygiene is important to us. The water costs £100 per stay.
The swimming pool is open between May and September. Please confirm when booking. The owner may request the pool space for their own use for a few hours of the day and will confirm with you the times on arrival. The Hydropool is open year around.
more about this place...
The hosts here are great travellers and they have stayed in beautiful homes and hotels across the world. The property is a showcase of what they’ve learned. The combination of Dutch and English styles are a very lovely mix which is why the house has already featured in several glossy magazines.
The property sits on a hill beside a valley, wooded with spectacular oak trees. Because you arrive and park at tree canopy level it feels like there is a wall of whispering green. Like the whole property, this was no mistake. The landscape design here is impeccable.
Sandra says, “We wanted our guests to feel like they were in a place of healing and peace. We put the Spa and rooms in partly underground and set to the side of the main house. This gives guests privacy and space. By using the drop in the hill in the property design, the pool and spa look out into the forest and we love that.”
It feels both curated and wild. Like a modern and mini Capability Brown project.
Inside here is a treat. No detail has been spared. It’s ready for a photoshoot any day of the week.
The steps down into the Hidden Spa bring you to a long hallway that connects the two bedroom spaces and opens out into the pool area and onto the Spa.
The Pool View room is airy and bright, and was built for peace and quiet. Colours here are white, cool grey and ocean blue. There is a main King bed (that faces the pool) and a beautiful en-suite bathroom with shower. For anyone wanting a secret sleep there is a clever Dutch cupboard day bed here. It’s on a raised platform and has shutter doors. You can shut yourself in, womb like, in this beautiful calm space for even more down time. There is a Smart TV here too for evenings relaxing.
The Hidden room is tucked under the pretty gardens above. It has a small courtyard to let the light in below. The colours here are whites, greys and dusky roses. Central to the room here is the very lovely huge roll top silver bath. En-suite is the sink and toilet.
Breakfast is provided for you
A healthy and top-notch spa breakfast is available for you each morning. Breakfast will include: homemade granola and muesli, quality smoked salmon and cream cheese, Italian meats and savoury biscuits, delicious yoghurts, local New Forest preserves and breads, plus two fabulous smoothies Detox Green and Very Berry. Allergies are catered for so let your host know if you are non-dairy or gluten free.
You can take breakfast where you like. At the main table and chairs by the pool, there’s another little table by the pool, in your courtyard facing the pool, or inside the room if it’s wet.
On arrival, you’ll also find:
A bowl of organic fruit, healthy Gluten Free Energy bites, a jar of cookies, organic nuts and truffle chocolates.
The pool area is particularly large compared to most private pools. It’s 14 metres long x 6 metres wide and includes a sunbathing area in shallow water.
Guests are welcome to use the pool during the day. Please discuss times with the owners on arrival as occasionally the pool area is used by the family when they are here.
What a treat. It’s all yours. The spa area is separate from the pool and can be used until 8pm.
The hydro pool is large and has seven different seats and sixty jets. It is particularly good for those who suffer from shoulder, back and leg stiffness or injuries. There is a large rain shower room here. But if you fancy breaking into a sweat and detoxing, head to the beautiful steam room with hot pebble stone seating. The gym area here has a rowing machine, multi gym, cross trainer and free weights and the view from here is directly through into the ancient oak forest. Towels, slippers, robes and a broad selection of spoily shampoos and products are all provided for you.
Hygiene is important here. There is a mandatory charge of £100 for all guests. This is for refilling the hydro pool with clean water. We do this every time for our guests. It is not optional.
The steps down to the house can be avoided. There is a 50-metre path (gravel and grass) that is wide enough for wheelchairs. It goes around the back of the Spa and up to the swimming pool deck. There are 3 steps up onto the decking and the rest of the area is on one floor – except the bath level in the Hidden bedroom which has one step to the bath, and toilet.
£320 per night
