This page is about the Tithe Barn room. The space adjoins the main accommodation at Gins Barn. The adjoining door is through the kitchen.

It is not included in your normal rental at Gins. There is no longer any informal use of the space for guests. You can request to use it during your stay.  This room is part of the owners area at the property and it is not a guarantee that it will be available for your stay. We do not rent this space, nor does the owner use it often, when there are guests in the main barn accommodation.

We charge for any planned use of the space.

People usually use it for smart dinners, an extra sitting room, events and weddings. It is mainly for use in the warm months.

During the winter months gets very cold. It takes 24 hours of wood burner heat to warm it up. There is no central heating. You’d have to be wearing gloves to play the piano!

Prices to hire the Tithe Barn start at:
£600 a weekend for the guests staying in the main accommodation
£1000 for any kind of event

Please ask us at booking if you want to use it and we will speak to the owners.

Events here:

The Tithe is not a specifically set up event venue, it is part of the owners house and is set up, each time, for rental purpose. This means moving furniture, the piano, parking issues, boat mooring issues,  guests walking through the owners gardens, security staff etc.

The Tithe will seat 30 at tables. Or 100 standing up for drinks.

Pricing for event hire starts at the barn starts from £1000.

Weddings

We hosted our first big wedding celebration, with giant marquee on the lawns, in May 2016. Look at our blog here.

And visit our weddings page here.

Gins is best for…

Family celebrations – 70th and 80th birthdays with the whole family in tow.

Accessibility

The barn is suitable for less mobile people too. There are two steps 8″ each step into the barn from the parking area. You can park right outside the main door. The doorways are wide enough for regular sized wheelchairs but there isn’t any specific adaptation through the house for chairs. There is a very slight step of 2″ between the hall and the sitting room which will be a speed bump for those in chairs.

So if you are organising a group with less mobile people then read our ideas (and tested excursions) here in our blog ‘Holidaying with less mobile folk? Here’s where to go, what to do!’

And if you are organising a celebration for those in their 60’s + please visit our blog post ‘Four easy ideas for memorable 60th, 70th & 80th birthdays’

We had a long weekend at Gins Barn with friends and family. It was such a fantastic experience for us all. The accommodation was superb and as we were very lucky with the weather our BBQ and all of the outdoor fun was very special. We were very grateful for the use of the Tithe Barn after the event on Friday and the extra space was very welcome. All in all a great weekend, excellent facilities and superb service from New Forest Escapes. Thank you all very much.

the location...

The Beaulieu River is one of the few privately owned rivers in the world and has been in the ownership of the Montagu family for over 400 years. Land here is tightly held and cherished by residents. The area feels manicured and wild.

At the head of the river, you’ll find the village itself. Dating back to the 13th century, it’s perhaps one of the most iconic and most visited in the New Forest. The main draw here is the Palace, Gardens, Abbey and Motor museum. The village is picturesque with tiny redbrick houses, tiny shops, a chocolaterie, several good cafes, an excellent garden centre and learning garden make up the tiny High Street.
