Lisa is famous for selling fresh meat and local produce straight from her farm, plus a host of specially selected local fish, cheese and other New Forest goodies.
I have been living in the Forest for 25 years and what I love most is that I can be on the beach one day and the forest the next. Raising my teenagers here has been so much fun – especially the endless opportunities that the outdoor life offers them.
The kids are getting older but they still enjoy a walk on the forest and love the beach and any chance to get on the water. They would definitely recommend The New Forest Paddle Sport Company and New Forest Activities – also New Forest Adventure Golf is a great new addition and the classic walk out to Hurst Castle and the ferry back never gets old.
As a farmer’s wife, I have been lucky to get insight into the local food scene and met some incredible producers. Hampshire Fare and New Forest Marque all have only directories of some of the finest producers in the area.
Lisa’s Larder came about from when I was supplying friends and family with fresh lamb to then opening our own pop-up shop on the farm when demand got to much. We are really lucky to be well supported by the community and local producers who are interested in what we are up to on the farm and shop across the seasons.
There are so many local heroes putting New Forest on the culinary map – a few of my favourites are Dexter Beef – Pete Niccolls Hatchett’s herd is some of the finest in the UK. North of the Forest, Lyburn Cheese is wonderful and Goodalls Pick Your own fruit offers some of the tastiest strawberries you will ever find.
My New Forest Favourites:
Walk… The Seawall route from Keyhaven to Lymington.
View… Across the Solent to The Needles from the clifftop at Milford.
Weekend… At home.
Restaurant… The Elderflower in Lymington is innovative and exciting – the Head Chef Andrew du Bourg is a great champion of local produce.
Pub… The Monkey House offers good honest pub food with really friendly staff that is suitable for all the family.
