Holiday cottages in Burley
The area here is 50% ancient forest with towering trees and 50% heathery heathland. All of it strewn with wild ponies and donkeys who have free access through the village of Burley. It’s well worth a visit to this particularly eccentric village, famed for it’s ‘white witch’.
This has become a shopping theme and once you’ve elbowed your way past the ponies who are almost always wandering through, then you’ll find plenty of small shops selling any amount of witch and wizardry knickknacks, broomsticks, china dragons and the like.
We love the ice-cream shop, the excellent butcher and local White Buck pub is well respected for food and drink. The golf course sits directly in the National Park and ponies walk the greens and park up next to the cars by the clubhouse. It’s got to be one of the more unusual golf course experiences in Britain, if not the world.
